Vote!
This blog has been very quiet for the last few weeks, mostly because there (sadly) hasn’t been much TPS news. It has been pretty clear that nothing would happen on this front before the election, and that prediction turned out to be true. But the election is tomorrow, and with it come new hopes and expectations. We will probably have to wait another few days before the election-related news and calculations die down in Washington, but there is one thing we can do in the meantime to make a difference. Vote.
We would like to ask everyone who reads us to vote if they can. It isn’t our place to endorse certain candidates or parties, but we do want to encourage everyone to go tomorrow and let your voice be heard. If you’re a U.S. Citizen who cares about any of the issues discussed here (or really about anything happening in the country at all), please be sure to exercise your right to vote tomorrow.

Just wanted to let you know that I called USAID today looking for help getting answers to questions about the lack of response to the request for TPS for Guatemalans. The representative followed up with contacts in the State Department and was able to tell me that the Department of State is still “actively considering” the request for TPS.
They won’t commit to when the recommendation will be made – whether it’ll be within a couple of weeks or months. Basically Secretary Clinton would make her recommendation to Secretary Napolitano at Homeland Security who will make the final call.
I gathered that they have all the information they need to make the decision (as in, they aren’t waiting on additional reports or what have you). It really boils down to where this issue fits among the priorities. Let’s hope it gets attention soon!

Rebecca–thanks for the information. I called DHS a couple of months ago and this very rude lady answered the phone and told me that she didn’t know about any “TPS thing”. Her response was very disappointing. Do you happen to have the number you called at AID? I would like to call as well and voice my support. Thanks.

porfabor si alguien sabe, que hacer para alludar a apresurar la respuerta sobre el tps. haora es cuando tenemos que salir de dudas,tenemos que tratar que el presidente , Obama nos allude .
porfabor todos los chapines tenemos que; luchar con todo para obtener el tps,. A las personas y profecionales que hacen posible eta pajina, gracias, por unirnos a traves de este medio, pero ustedes que saben mas de leyes ; alluden a darnos ideas legales para facilitar obtener un permiso de trabajo a las personas que no tienen papeles, o idas para alludar a ,nuestros hijos ,que son exelentes estudiantes,sin problemas con las autoridades,que trabajan ,estudian,con exelente caracter moral y deseo de ser alguien en la vida. si supieran algo con referencia a estudiantes porfabor ponerlo en este espacio gracias.
